AT THE FARMERS' MARKET

There is a melon & vegetable farm in Gondeville, a village about 4 km from downtown Jarnac, and they hold a Farmers's market every Friday afternoon. We lived near there for a month during our renovations and went to it a few times.
Once a year, they have a two day spectacle on their farm, where they invite plenty of other producers, true makers of the best regional products and it's a very popular event. Aside of their own top quality, locally grown produce at No Frills pricing, there were some other exceptionally cool vendors there. I don't feel like typing today, so just look at the pictures.
I went too early for lunch, but I tell you. In the middle of the giant court yard a senior farmer set up a couple of barrels with woods from the vines to BBQ.  How it basically works, is that you buy your meat at the vendors available, give it to the Pit Master/Boss/Chef and he'll grill it for you. How cool is that.
The event is still on tomorrow, I might just go back, especially for that BBQ. And a side of fresh Fries.

Enjoy the pictures.  Almost 60 images, but not really in order. You'll get the idea.

Wonderful place! "Rillettes de pigeons" could become your specialty. Maybe you could buy a fake owl (or a real one) to scare the pigeons on your beautiful enclosed patio.

That Papy is a character I tell you.
But the jams are great.

Both great ideas, Nadege. I am going to look into that owl thing, maybe one that moves and makes noise

doubt I start cooking them up soon.
