BRAIDED MOZZARELLA

This must be the tenth time I talk about Mozzarella. It just so happens to be my favorite quick lunch.
And our Mozzarella consumption has developed as well. When I first saw the individual packages at LIDL for .49, I must have prepared them in a variety of ways at least once a week.
Salads, sandwich, Pizza, you name it.
Then one time we bought some Buffala Mozzarella at the local market and though pricey, it was such huge difference to the store bought one.

Now the local cheese lady brings in 2 kg bulk pieces of braided Mozzarella and it's brilliant quality at a more acceptable price. It sells well she told me, but mostly in the summer, which makes sense.
A fresh shipment has arrived for today's market, so I had to buy some. The fresher the better with this Italian cheese.  Here is a video that shows how they braid the fresh cheese.

Lunch as great.

Looks just great! Mmmhhhhhh!
Another things that's pretty much impossible to find here in LA. Whole food carries some domestic 'artist' brands, but at best it's just OK. Trader's Mozarella is an insult to mankind really though they carry now Kürbiskernöl from Steiermark - a bit light weight compared to what I remember - but still very appreciated.
For those who don't know: Trader Joe's is owned by ALDI and carries a bunch of ALDI products for better or worse but always with a heavenly mark-up ;)

OK Mr. Karl L., how do you get the Umlaut done on your keyboard??

We always enjoyed Trader Joe's, some of the quirkiest finds.

Check this place out near you:

You want fresh mozzarella? Try this :

I think David Lebovitz had a recipe for it too, but for sure, he had a recipe for fresh ricotta.

Personally, I think Trader Joe's was better before it was bought out by the german corporation.
