Half the year is over. Where did it go? For me, that was one fast 6 month period. I wonder how many of us kept their New Year's resolution. My bar is so low, I could roll over it and still be on target. I like it. No let downs....
The spring weather in France this year was really not much to write home about and just as if someone has flipped a switch, summer arrived. It's nice and hot now, blue skies, people seem to have more fun with all that Vitamin D they are fueling up on, and of course the colors are much much brighter.
Sort of recalling from last Summer that this was the same time when the public pool opens, so I dusted off my Speedo this morning and waltzed over to the park looking for a bit of a swim. Ehm. What was I thinking. Just for school excursions today, public is invited back soon. With the same ridiculous hours of last year. Who goes home for lunch when you hit the pool? Very backwards. Like Austria in the 1960's...
Most public swimming pools in that small country are open from May to September, 9am to 6pm or longer. Daily. Austria is also run by socialists, just a bit more progressive ones.
No worries, civil servants. The river is an equally refreshing spot to hang out at, the water was not bad at all, there were quite a few kids floating around already. And jump into the river from the bridge leading to the park. Fun to watch. Pool Schmool.
Traditionally the first concert every year of the Cognac Blues festival is being held in Jarnac. They were busy setting up the stage in the park for tomorrow's concert. What a setting it is. With less of the big name artists compared to last year's festival, the festival seems to go back to it's roots with more Blues/Jazz kind of artists for this year. Sinead O'Connor maybe being the exception. Three artists playing in Jarnac tomorrow night and I only recognize one song of one artist.
