Jarnac. Birth place of Francois Mitterand. Home of Courvoisier, Hine and Royer Cognac. Located on the banks of the Charente River in the department of the same name, Charente.

About 5000 citizens call this town their home, enough people to support a fine infrastructure with fine dining, Cafes and Bars, majorsuper markets, a daily fresh fresh market and many many more interesting places around town.

It took me less than 15 minutes from Place du Chateau in Jarnac, all the way to Cognac to the west.
30 kilometers to the east is Angouleme, a city with even more amenities and most importantly, a TGV station that takes you to Paris in 2 1/2 hours.

It's the place we picked. We like it.  And when you come to visit us, you will like it too.

Here are some images that I took today, on You Tube I found this somewhat gritty video:

With Cognac next door, it's worth a trip all by itself.
